Speaking on legal reforms that drive the Philippine economy, DivinaLaw Managing Partner Atty. Nilo T. Divina said: “These reforms look good on paper – these laws modernize our tax system, lower corporate taxes, rationalize incentives, and make a more predictable fiscal environment. But you know, (legal) reforms are just structure.”

“The laws must also make sure that each and every centavo raised from or generated by these laws is spent, accounted for, and implemented properly. It is transparency that promotes trust, it is accountability that inspires confidence, and it is consistency that leads to stability.”

Atty. Divina was a fireside chat speaker during the BusinessWorld Forecast 2026 held recently in Taguig City. Themed “Seizing New Growth Opportunities Amid Disruptions,” the forum served as a platform for thought leaders to share insights on navigating economic headwinds, rebuilding investor confidence, and identifying strategies to drive sustainable and inclusive growth in the Philippines for the coming year.

In his closing speech, Atty. Divina shared his optimism for the future.

“I think we — the academe, the legal profession, policymakers, the business community — as long as we are united by these norms of transparency, accountability, and consistency, no problem cannot be solved or addressed…I think we Filipinos can make this country great again, as long as we are united, as long as we stand together in our common values and shared principles.”
